NYC’s Contract Boss Quits—Another Exit in the Adams Administration Circus

Lisa Flores, the city’s Director of Contracts, has just added her name to the growing list of people running for the exits in Mayor Eric Adams’ administration. While she didn’t say why she resigned, the timing is… let’s just say, interesting. Her departure follows a mass exodus of top officials, including multiple deputy mayors, leaving City Hall looking more like a sinking ship than a functioning government.
And speaking of sinking, Mayor Adams has been drowning in scandals. Last year, he was hit with federal corruption charges, accused of accepting shady campaign donations and luxury perks from foreign nationals in exchange for political favors. Then, in a plot twist straight out of a bad courtroom drama, the Justice Department suddenly dropped the charges—causing such an uproar that even prosecutors started quitting in protest.

Meanwhile, the city is still funneling over half a million bucks a month to a hotel developer who was caught bribing officials for contracts. And guess what? That same developer is now reportedly working with investigators and might spill the beans on Adams and his crew. Nothing suspicious about that at all, right?
All of this has tanked the mayor’s approval rating, with more than half of New Yorkers wanting him to pack his bags. Even Governor Kathy Hochul is allegedly debating whether to pull off the political equivalent of an eviction notice and kick him out of office.
At this rate, the Adams administration is turning into a reality show no one signed up for—but everyone is watching.
