Move over Bennifer, there’s a new power couple stealing headlines—except this one exists only between the baselines. At this year’s U.S. Open, mixed doubles partners Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula had fans convinced they weren’t just hitting forehands together, but filing joint taxes.

It started innocently: Draper made a casual remark about how competitive the format was. Pegula, with the seasoned timing of a sitcom wife, corrected him mid-match. The crowd laughed, Draper sighed, and suddenly everyone watching was transported from Arthur Ashe Stadium to a living room with a remote control fight.

“Honestly, it felt like watching my parents argue about directions,” one fan joked. Even reporters piled on, dubbing them an “old married couple” before the match was even over. Pegula didn’t deny the comparison, while Draper, smiling through the ribbing, looked every bit the sitcom husband who knows he’s lost the argument.

Though no romance is actually in play, the Draper-Pegula dynamic has tennis fans craving more.
