A Prayer for Power: Remembering Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne

In just days, the world lost two giants: Hulk Hogan, the wrestling demigod whose red and yellow roared through the ’80s, and Ozzy Osbourne, the unshakable voice of metal who survived every demon — real or imagined.

Hogan, 71, passed from cardiac arrest on July 24. For millions, he was more than a wrestler — he was a symbol. Kids flexed in mirrors shouting “Whatcha gonna do?!” while he body-slammed legends and smiled like a Saturday morning cartoon come to life. He turned wrestling into theater, sports into spectacle.

Ozzy, gone at 76, left just days earlier — and somehow, even in death, it felt like a scream followed by silence. The Black Sabbath co-founder shaped an entire genre with his growl, his chaos, and his haunting honesty. His farewell concert in Birmingham, just weeks ago, felt like a benediction. “Survival is my legacy,” he once said. He wasn’t wrong.

Two men. Two myths. One prayer:

May the strength of Hogan’s fight and the depth of Ozzy’s soul live on in those they touched. May their wildness, their grace, and their noise echo long after we’re gone.

Amen to that.
